MAGWest is Going Digital!

Greetings from the MAGWest Team!

In light of the ongoing battle against COVID-19, MAGWest 2020 will be a digital-only event. To accommodate our new needs, MAGWest is being rescheduled to Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4.

Our team is hard at work converting all of your favorite MAGWest staples to the digital landscape so you can enjoy the event from the safety of your own home! At digital MAGWest, you'll be able to:

• Rock out to virtual concerts from your favorite MAG-bands!

• Enjoy presentations, discussions, Q&A's, and more with guests!

• Watch a 24 hour charity speedrunning stream!

• Play games with the community in hosted and self-organized games and tournaments!

This definitely changes the way we're handling community driven content like marketplace, panels, and indie games, but we'll have details on the changes in these areas very soon!

Until then, get ready and get excited for the new virtual and safe MAGWest!

Panels and Indie Games Submissions are LIVE!

Today we’re launching the application process for both Panels and Indie Games!

Panels Applications

Are you a valuable member of the community who’s got opinions, theories, or facts to share with people? Do you want to talk to a room full of people on why that Nintendo data dump was critical to the future of N64 emulation? Are you convinced that Aerith is actually evil in the FFVII: Remake and need to tell people? Are you part of a group involved in nerdy things and want to talk about your work? Well, head on over to our Panels Application Form or click the button below to submit your idea for presenting at MAGWest! Applications close June 30, 2020.

Indie Game Submissions

Are you a game developer with a working version of your game, and you want to show it off, share with people, or get valuable feedback in a live environment? Then head on over to our Indie Arcade Submission Form or click the button below to submit your game for presenting at MAGWest! Submissions close June 30, 2020.

Did you know?

We accept suggestions for guests! If you’re interested in seeing a community icon or popular figure for the video game/music/etc community and think they’d be a good fit, you can submit them to us as a recommendation! Head on over to our Guest Submission form to let us know!

MAGWest is Sept 18-20, 2020!

HOT DAWG, we're doing a MAGWest in 2020!

Since we wrapped last year's event, we've been a state of hibernation/excitement as we gathered energy from the stars to prepare for another year of too much good stuff. We're now awake, alert, hungry, and getting everything ready--sooo, without further ado:

MAGWest 2020 will be held on Friday, September 18 - Sunday, September 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in San Jose, CA.*

We'll be rolling our item-collection-donuts through the DoubleTree again to help King Donut make new  toppings. Join us and celebrate music and gaming as a summer send-off, enjoying arcades, consoles, music, and more!

For those of you that attended last year, we want to let you know that we've been in srs talks with the venue about a lot of your feedback, and we're happy to announce that we've scored major #dealz to reduce parking fees and secure additional overflow parking! There will be more details on this and other stuff to come, but we wanted to make sure you guys knew your voice was heard, and we love each and every one of you more than anything (except boba).

Performer/Visualist applications are LIVE!

We're getting things rolling already, can you believe it?!

MAGWest 2020 is a thing*, we're inviting all musical guests and visualists interested in performing on our stages to apply now using our form!

(Technically this application has been live since last year's event, but we think it's much more relevant now that we’re in the same calendar year as the event.)

MAGWest looks for bands and performers spanning VGM, chiptune, nerdcore, and more. We value diversity not only in genre, but also in underrepresented races, colors, genders, and creeds. We strive to collectively celebrate the community by bringing everyone together for an inclusive experience.

If you're a sound-making performer (probably no mimes on the main stage, sorry) and want to share your tunes and grooves with the masses, or if you're a visualist with the talent for making pretty things come alive, we highly encourage you to take the time to apply to perform at MAGWest. Alternatively, if you can’t make music yourself, but you know someone who would be perfect for the stage, please encourage them to apply!

While this form isn't a prerequisite for playing at our other stages like Jamspace, Chipspace, or the Pool Party (and Variety Stage?!), all acts that apply to this form are eligible for these other stages as well!

The application period for performers and visualists will close on April 30, 2020. Not all applicants will be informed that they were not selected, but we will announce when all selections have been made. Please see the application form for more details.

We MAGWesters are gearing up for 2020, and we’re getting excited!

We’re working on getting a lot of major details determined (like a date and venue), and as soon as we have that, we’re going to tell literally everyone (except not literally, who has that kind of time or tracking system). We’ve heard a lot of feedback from 2019, and we’re excited to be working towards an even more perfect event by incorporating all of (some of) your great ideas!
